July 2008

June 28 - July 5 (Sat. to Sat.) - Scott County Wagon Train

The train will camp on Jarvis Vicars in Twin Springs and take a different route each day ending with a big dinner on the night on July 5. Negative coggins required on all horses.  For more information, contact Jerry Stapleton at (276)479-2423.

 

July 12 (Saturday) - Straight Fork Ridge Trail Ride - Starting time:  10:30 am

Riders will meet and leave from David Mann's farm in Ft. Blackmore at 10:30 am.  There will be limited parking.  The ride will be to the top of the mountain and back and will take about 6 hours.  For more information, please contact a member of the Trail Committee.

 

July 19 (Saturday) -  Firecracker Fun Show - Starting time:  5 pm

August 2008

August 3-10 (Sun. to Sun.) - White Top Wagon Train

August 16 (Saturday) - Run in the Sun Horse Show - Starting time:  5 pm

More information and a show program will be available at a later date.

 

August 23 (Saturday) - Jasper to Kane Gap Trail Ride - Starting time:  10:30 am

Riders will meet at the Daniel Boone Travel Center in Duffield at 10:30 am and continue on to ride site.  There will be reasonable parking at the ride site.  This will be about a 5 hour ride on forest service roads and logging trails.  More information available by searching for "gap in Powell Mountain where Daniel Boone led settlers west".  For more information, please contact a member of the Trail Committee.

 

August 29-September 1 (Fri. to Mon.) - Labor Day Weekend Wagon Train

August 30 (Saturday) - Burley Fest Horse Show - Starting time:  5 pm

September 2008

 

September 13 (Saturday) - Stanleytown to Maple Gap and Flannery Ridge 

                                           - Starting time:  10:30 am

There are several options for time and distance of ride on gravel and forest service gated roads.  Good parking and primitive camping.  Riders will meet at Rye Cove High School at 10:30 am and continue on to ride site.  Bring grill and fixins' for cooking out after the ride.  

 

September 25-28 (Thur. to Sun.) - SHOBA Celebration Fall Trail Ride at East Fork Stables

This is the Single-footing Horse Owners and Breeder Associations annual trail ride.  More information for this ride can be seen at http://www.shobaonline.com/id18.html.  Campsites and stalls go fast, so call East Fork Stables at 1-800-97-TRAIL as soon as possible to make reservations.  

 

October 2008

October 4 (Saturday) - "Riding for Hope" Horse Show - Starting time:  3 pm

October 19 (Sunday) - Mabe to Flannery Ridge and Pick Breeches Ridge Trail Ride 

                                   - Starting time:  10:00 am

Riders will meet at the Citgo Market on US 23N between the Clinchport and Natural Tunnel exits and then continue on to the ride site.  There will be limited parking at the site.  The ride will be approximately 6 hours on gravel and forest service gated roads.  There will be beautiful fall colors on this ride.
